Laminin

The wife and I had a great time at the concert last night. We saw Chris Tomlin and Matt Redman, two popular Christian singers along with Louie Giglio who gave a short sermon midway through the concert.
The Concert was unbelievable and lasted over 3 hours. After a life in which I have seen everyone from Bruce Springsteen to Elton John to Def Lepard in concert, this was my first ever Christian concert. It was probably the best concert I have ever seen in person.
The speaker, Louie Giglio, was also mind-blowing. His talk centered on our place in the universe and just how small we are in the grand scheme of things.
I am a Christian, but I am the worst type.
I don't go to Church nearly enough, I barely read my Bible, I pray only when I need something, and I do not go out of my way to tell anyone about my Christian beliefs.
I do not want to lecture to anyone on my blog about most Christian subjects because I believe that each person has their own spiritual beliefs and customs and it is not my business to lecture them as to whether they are right or wrong when it comes to God.
I just want to let you know the basis of the talk that was given at the concert last night.

It features LAMININ.

What the heck is Laminin you ask?

7,000 concert-goers asked the same thing.

Let me start with a picture.

This is a photograph taken by the Hubble Space Telescope. It is of the center of a black hole in a galaxy millions of light years from Earth. All Christians believe that God created the universe and everything in it. Look at what the image is that is located in the center of that black hole millions of light years away. I won't tell you what it looks like to me, you just decide quickly what it appears to be to you.

Now, we come to Laminin.

In the human body, we are all made of Trillions and Trillions of cells that compromise our body and all it's intricate parts. What holds this vast body of ours together?

Laminin.

Laminin is some kind of protein that acts as the glue that holds all of our trillions of cells together.

Here is a diagram of what laminin looks like in scientific circles.......

During the talk, Louie Giglio then displayed an actual microscopic photo of a single Laminin cell and it looked exactly like the photo taken by the Hubble Space Telescope of the black hole light years from Earth.

They say that God is everywhere. In the far reaches of the Universe and in every cell of our bodies.

You be the judge.

Very cool!

I was a little worried it referred to laminitis, which is what I *think* Barbaro got several times. But then I kept trying to call him Barbara, so what do I know!?

Still, very cool.

Mark, I was at that concert with my daughters (24 and 16), and had gone to the one last year, as well!
I was so glad to see this on line! I was searching for the info. to share with others, and ran across this. You can no longer say you do not share your faith!!
A Chis Tomblin concert is a true experience!! I urge anyone who reads this, to go to ticketmaster online, and find out if he is coming to your area...You will never forget it... or will you ever be the same!!!

I too, was at this concert at Lancaster County Bible Church on the 22nd. I am STILL thinking about it, jounaling, and praising the Creator for the majesty He continues to display in creation and in the most intricate details of our existence. How can I deny a Creator God, and how...how can I keep silent and from singing praises to His holy name? I spend a lot of time in the outdoors and I see God's handiwork and imagination everywhere...but this was the first time I could get a tiny grasp on the immensity of His power by the pictures and facts Louie Giglio so beautifully presented at the concert.

AMEN
I love to watch our creator at work. God used you in a great way here, taking the time to do this article, rather you know it or not it was doing Gods work, Just simply sharing the experiance. AWESOME
I have been to many christian concerts, seen Tomlin 3 times now and have loved the experiance of each one of them, I have to say this is one I will "never forget" one second of. The presence of the holy spirt was so powerful. The next day all I could do was sing "Its all about you Jesus", you know how a song gets in your head after hearing it and it sticks in your mind, I didn't hear the song I just woke up singing, "It's all about you Jesus", sang it all day. If I did sleep,I didn't get much, I was awake most of the night thinking about nothing except how Great our God is.
God Bless

I saw Chris Tomlin, Matt Redman & Louie Giglio on 2/23 on the Penn State campus in Pennsylvania. Just now got to searching for "laminin" since I couldn't see the screen on-stage too well from where I was sitting. Thanks so much for your brief sysopsis. This is exactly what I was searching for so I can share with my friends.

I too just went to his concert in Tucson Az last night. Louie Giglio was sick but I got to see his DVD about how big our God is and was awe struck by His universe. I was then blown away by Laminin and the cross we all have built into our DNA. Yes there is a God and he loves each of us.

Thanks Mark for putting the images up! I too went to the concert last night, and wanted to share the message and images with my kids today. I found your post and they are amazed! What an awesome opportunity to worship with everyone last night! I woke up this morning singing praises! Before I close, I need to mention one thing. I have a friend named Jeanie who needs a miracle with breast cancer or she won't be her long. Please, all of you who read this, could you say a prayer for Jeanie? Thanks!!

I went to the very last concert on this tour in Johnson City, TN. And as in all the concerts on this tour, Louie Giglio gave his speech about Laminin and the stars. It was one of the most eye-opening messages I've ever heard. It has transformed the the way I view God, and approach Him during prayer. I would love to have that entire message on CD. - Jeff L., Limestone, TN

Mark,

To good to be true! I greet you in the Name of our Father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. I pray that the Lord will use this invention in your life to speak boldly about what He is doing for us. We saw this on a DVD at our church in South Africa. Someday, this concert might venture into Africa – then I will be able to see this in person. But for now, I know the Lord is at work and I pray for a rival in this land – yours and mine.

We just saw the video of this talk tonight after worship practise at church - we cut practise short to see it. All I have to say is, WOW... It is truly mind-blowing to know that this "star-breathing" God is so intimately involved in every aspect of His creation. We all agreed it gives totally new perspective to the song, "How Great is Our God?"

Hi

I'm glad that you liked the concert. Although I haven't seen it yet, I know it was amazing. I've heard of it too.

Dear Mark,
There aren't types of Christians. In fact, there isn't supposed to be "Christianity". It's supposed to people just simply in love with Jesus Christ, their Saviour and Lord. He loves you Sir, and desires that you would be very close to Him. I don't know how your life is, who am I right? But I'd just wanna encourage you to seek Jesus Christ's face... I would really wanna see you be close to him. Technically I can't, hehe, I live in the Phillipines. Just so happened that I stumbled by your blog, anyway,
He desires your heart, all of it...Oh so much...

He loves you. Have a great day.

Sincerely and humbly yours, Wayne

God is truly an amazing Creator! However, I think you can see the cross in anywhere if you look hard enough. So I will not jump in excitement that some black hole and a protein take the shape of a cross.

But the fact that God holds up all things in the universe (cross-shaped or otherwise) by His eternal Word is good enough a reason for us to wonder and worship Him for the rest of eternity.

No matter what any "skeptic" may think, God finds incredible ways to "reveal Himself" to those who "want reasons" to or not to believe. It is by faith that we are saved, faith in what Christ did for us. I for one am awed that our Creator incorporated such a magnificent reflection of the sacrifice made on behalf of all mankind, so that there would be one more thing for a "skeptic" to have to think about, and somehow "justify" staying in a state of "unbelief".
Co-incidence?, I think not, "evidence" of The Almighty God, His omnipresence, and His "accomodation" to help those folks along who "need more facts."
It is the Holy Spirit who draws all to Christ, that "woo-ing", courtship if you will, and some folks just don't want the invite. That is sad for all of us who have recieved Christ as our Savior and Lord, yet we witness right here, right now, another way God has made to "reach into even a stoney heart".
I for one am excited for you Mark, as this has touched something in you to make you "blog it all over", I will say this as well, the word teaches us that the "world will know we are His diciples by how we show (give) love one to another. You have shown your love, by "blogging this", to share, to bear witness to what an awesome and Mighty God we Serve.
In this world, we will dissapoint ourselves and others, however, God never will. There is none good but God, we try our best to rise to the "standard" of Christ, yet in this life, we are daily in battle... we will find our battle truly won on the Day we meet Him face to face... God Bless you! Cobi

Are Christians dumbing down?

Are you so controlled by this way of thinking that you can't think critically?

God gave you a mind that can be used to weed out information that is FRIVOLOUS and to concentrate on the information that is SIGNIFICANT.

While it may be neat that this protein molecule, when diagrammed, is in the shape of a cross, that's really all it is: neat. What it is not is some kind of innate proof of the existence of a god, The God of the Bible or Jesus.

If a researcher found a molecule in the shape of a Sleigh, would it be proof of the existence of Santa Claus? Would they go head-over-heels about it? No. It would go something like this:

"Wow, that kind of looks like a sleigh."

and then they would move onto something of importance.

Please remember that critical thinking is what strengthens ideas.

An X-Ray Santa Claus in Orion:
The European Space Agency's XMM-Newton X-ray observatory has discovered a huge cloud of high-temperature gas resting in a spectacular nearby star-forming region, shaped somewhat like the silhouette of Santa Claus.

My sister was diagnosed with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia a few months ago. The doctors told her that she would have to undergo many rounds of chemo before there being a chance of remission. She went into remission after just one round. The doctors then told her that there was a great possibility that she would relapse easily and a bone marrow transplant may help. But the risks of a transplant were about as high as a relapse. Basically, she had a dission to make. Make the wrong choise, and it could be fatal. The odds are the same for each. She prayed that God show her which to choose. Later that day, the MD called and said that they just found in some additional testing of her bone marrow biopsy that she also has a condition of the bone marrow called MDS, long story short, this meant that the dission was no longer for her to make, she would have to have a transplant. For anyone that doesn't know, it is very hard to find a match outside of siblings. They found 600!
Although we are a family raised on strong, faithful foundations this has not been an easy road for us.
Last Sunday, Louie's presention was shown at my sister's church. She placed a link on her website. We already believed in God's power and strength and had faith that He would pull us through this path He has set us on. But to see it laid out like this is amazing and came to us at just the right time. There is nothing like seeing this while you are watching God's healing power in your own life.

Also, you should know, Mark, that I teach the youth Sunday School class at my church and was having a difficult time preparing for our next lesson. Then I received a link to Louie's video. I plan on sharing it with my class. Then, I came across your blog. What you showed with the black hole really adds to it! The fact that God put the same immage in the center of the black hole, so far away in the heavens, as He put as the core of each human body and that that immage is of the cross, the foundation of our way to salvation! Wow. Coincidences are only miricles that God chooses not to take credit for.
I believe that God has put my sister on the path she is on with her illness to touch others (we have already seen it happen) I also believe that God revealed Louie's link to us just when we needed it most and that God revealed your blog to me at just the right time too. Like I said, I plan on sharing it all with a group of teenagers who are searching for their way. You never know, Mark, how the information you presneted in your blog will effect the life and eternity of someone else. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! God bless you.

Being that science is the study of our universe and how it works it is no wonder that it would all point back to it's creator, God through Jesus.

Psalm 69:34
Let heaven and earth praise Him, the seas and everything that moves in them.

All the universe is in motion mathematically and strategically placed. God is the only thing big enough to do that! As far as a big bang theory goes, explosions are chaotic! There is no way that a role of the dice so to speak would have resulted in creation! Thank you for sharing your experience. For the video see hillradio.com God blessyou!

this is just silly. It's as silly as Muslim countries refusing (for opposing reasons) to have their streets cross at right angles because it makes (gasp!) a cross!

How about looking into Scripture to find out how central Christ is? This is nothing but superstition.

God is so very, very cool! He holds the human body together with a cross-shaped protein! The same symbol that the Norse god Thor holds as a hammer! That many ancient civilizations have used as a sacred symbol: Egyptians, Indians, etc.! That the Romans used to crucify many thousands of humans! Yes, the perfect symbol that God has chosen for us, now revealed at so many thousands of years into human civilization, and now for us to use in slide-show presentations about the coolness, the awesomeness of the Creator. God really believes in these ancient pre-Christian cultural symbols. How cool!

Ummm... you should review the video again. The image that was shown on screen during Louie's sermon, the one of the electron microscope picture of the Laminin molecule, looked NOTHING like the image from the Hubble telescope, outside of their resemblance to the Cross. While it's great to spread the Good News of God's Grace, it's devastating to spread it with partial truths.

Hi
We are very fortunate to have a God that loves us so much and should be eternally grateful. Having said this I am not convinced that the very well presented Giglio video on Laminin will be helpful for serious seekers for evidence that Christ holds us together (which I believe is true). The reason for my misgiving about the appropriateness of the Laminin analogy is that according the some Google searches, Laminin plays a role in brain cancer. See this link: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16146715
I am not a molecular biologist and so I could be completely wrong with my comment.
Louie Giglio is clearly a gifted speaker and evangelist and I wish him well with his ministry. However, it may have been a mistake to use the Laminin analogy, as I don't believe Christ would play any part in supporting the spread of brain cancer.
A possible response to my comment could be: The analogy holds good as it reflects the Scriptural truth that Christ is always with us, even at the heart of our deepest and darkest suffering.
Any comments?
Thank you.

It is now Feb. 22,2009, and I just saw this DVD last night. Nothing has changed in terms of the impact that it makes on the seeking heart. From the greatness that His breath brought forth into being and the miniscule that He formed with His very hand.

True, it may be that sceptics will find reasons to disagree with the likeness of the cross found in laminin protein. It is even more true that Christ and the faith to see God revealed in all of His magnificent creation is impossible to behold by the heart void of Him.

May God be in your heart today. May you behold and embrace, with childlike faith, His greatness in the big things and the small.

This would all be fine and good if Jesus died on a cross, but he didn't. He actually died on a torture stake-an upright stake. The cross was not introduced until hundreds of years after Jesus died.

i don`t believe in god, but i`m not going to say that all this is some kind of bullshit....

just wanted to say that laminin is not a cell, it is a protein. and it "keeps everything where it belongs" with the help of other proteins, like fibronectin, entactin, tenascin, thrombospondin, chondronectin, and lots of other molecules that are not proteins, all of them veru interesting.... buuutt.... you picked laminin because it looks like a cross and you wanted to make your poind. and... by the way... it could stay upside down....

I find it very disheartening that so many people automatically reject any such information. What does it matter to you, non-Christian, whether Christians believe this was created by God specifically or not? I, being a Christian, don't go to bars and tell everyone there that it really isn't the beer they want, but the forgetting, just because that is what I believe. If you do not believe that this protein was created by God for a specific purpose, you are first off wrong, because several people have become Christians because of this protein. That alone is proof that God created it for a specific reason to look like a cross. And secondly then state it as your opinion. State, "I believe this a load of hog wash because _________." If you have ever taken a class on making an argument, then you know you will never win if you insult the intelligence and beliefs of your opponent. So, as the teacher in me says, BE NICE!!!

Michael said...

It's good to know that there are people in the world willing to change their entire worldview based on the shape of a protein.

It's also nice to consider how unlikely it is that there is a protein shaped like a crescent moon and star, or like the sanscrit letter for Om. That way proteins won't prove other religions right too. I'm really glad early Christians wanted to use a simple symbol for their religion. It sure opened doors eh?

God bless you all. ;)

Nessa said...

Sitting in a church doesn't make you a Christian anymore than standing in a garage makes you a car. With that being said, there is no such thing a a perfect Christian. If there was, there would be no need for Jesus to have made the ultimate sacrifice on the thing that looks uncannily like the Laminin protein.

Ephesians 2:8-9
8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast.

God works in mysterious ways and this is just another example of that fact.

For anyone who wants to take away from the awesomeness of this discovery, shame on you. For any "Christian" to be so negative about all of this is very sad. Christ gives us things like this to motivate, encourage and inspire believers. To negate it is to discourage, knock down and depress a movement that this world deperately needs.

Final thoughts:
1. Experience Christ and his love and power in ANY way you can and as often as you can.
2. Encouragement is of God. Discouragement is of satan. Anyone who speaks poorly of things like this is simply allowing the demon on their back to lead their thoughts (anyone who's ever read Piercing the Darkness and This Present Darkness by Frank E. Perretti understand that statement)
3. Be kind to your brothers and sisters in Christ (you'll be spending eternity with them so you might as well get some "NICE" practice in).

Love to all the others that are willing to stand up and see things as children of a powerful, loving and all around awesome GOD.

Good to know that there are still a lot of us who believes in God. The next good question is, "Is the God to whom we believe in is the most powerful or the true God who created us"? According to the Bible, there will be false christ and false prophets that will arise... It is true, there are many who teaches the name Christ but they do not follow the full teachings of Christ. Some Christ teaches not to eat pork, some say faith alone saves, some says once save always save, some teaches to worship idols, some believes on oneness, etc... Yet, they all say that they are all Chirstians. True Christians knows what they should believe and what they should not beleive. The Bible is complete, it contains all the imperative things that we should know and everthing we should believe. Bible will teach us if Christians are allowed or not allowed to eat pork, what else should we need aside from faith to be save, why we should not worship idols, why and how salvation can be lost, etc...
Believing that there is God is great. But using this black hole and the cross inside of it in relation with the Laminin as a basis of believing God is a scrap. The Bible is complete, if you use it and read it, you will not be deceive by these false christ and prophets...

This is directed to the person who penned the story at the top of this page. I'm thankful for your authenticity. I pray that you'll no longer be the Christian that you described in the beginning, but that you'll boldly proclaim, in love, sharing His grace and mercy with all the people God puts in your path.

Hello,
I was inspired to write a song after viewing the laminin site on youtube. The title of the song is "Beyond the Crimson Cross"
May Gods' Love and mercy hold you together in these trying times.
The conclusion is near.

sad to see that there are a lot people who base their faith in this kind of scrap ideas. your pastor has no idea how to introduce God in a way that God wants it to be. Ignorant of the Bible. If you can just give yourself an hour or two everyday reading the Bible, you will find out how ignorant the pastors of our time has become. Well, the Bible says that there will arise lots for false preachers, prophets and false christ... all I can say is read, read, read, read, read, read, read, read, read, read the Bible, so you wil not be deceived.....

I was looking up laminin myself and came across your blog, thanks for having the diagram of its structure ready to see, can't argue with science! For those nay-sayers, nit-picking and squabbling over one part of Louis' talk, doesn't the bible still say "all things were created though Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist." (Colossians 1:16-17). God does not need to prove His existence as it is reflected in all of creation, which just defies the illogic of evolution, He did put these signs of the cross in the cosmos and in the human cell. Let's keep looking up to Him. Amen!

The beauty of this whole issue is this, you will choose who you will serve. Here in the U.S. the choice is still yours. If you want to rage against the cosmos, you can. I do remind you to choose wisely. Ask yourself why you want to do the things you do. I appreciate Mark Twain when he said that it is not the things in the Bible that he does not understand that bother him. It is the things he does understand.
The choice is mine. The choice is yours. No one can take that away from us. The next time you are alone and can speak freely because you are afraid of what others will say if they heard you. Ask God to show Himself to you in a way that only you could understand.
It amazes me how few people give any real serious time to wanting to understand, if God is real, who is He? All of us share one common element of life, not one of us knows if tomorrow is ours.
Like C. S. Lewis, I too find that I was the most reluctant convert. I am now so grateful.

Try to put a price tag on a clear conscience, clean hands and something as simple as real rest and peace. The kind that a financial, military or medical emergency cannot touch. You can read about this in Mattherw 7:24-27. That too is your choice. You know as well as I that we rise or fall by each decision we make. Again I say, choose wisely! ken

I am glad you saw the presentation. I was skeptical, but I really liked it.
I am glad that you are honest about your faith. It sounds to me like you have "God knowledge" but you haven't really met God. There is a fantastic difference my friend. The difference between knowing God and knowing about God is like the difference between lightening and a lightening bug.
Hope you really meet Him.

You know what? When you can explain how you are not battery operated, and how it is that there are 7 billion of us alive, plus the plants, animals, birds, fish, insects, and so on, as well as explaining the mathematical precision of hundreds of billions of planets and stars in the sky....

When you through your own thoughts (using about 5% of your brain) you can create it all......

Then perhaps, you'd have a right to diss God. In the meantime, you're standing in line at the Judgment Throne - right behind satan.

It doesn't matter what anyone thinks about Laminins... IT IS GOD'S CREATION! Thank you Mark for posting this. I was not at the concert, but watched the presentation on dvd. I got such a revelation on how big God really is. I know alot of people are going to say what they will. Yes I agree if you read your Bible, you will get the same revelation of how big God is. I don't agree with this being false teaching, it is for those who need to see to believe. We as Christians believe in God, and what Jesus did for us by Faith. Faith comes by hearing, which would be reading the word of God, going to church, and hearing your Pastor preach the word, and by speaking, which would be speaking the word of God. All of us who already were believers before didn't need to see this to justify what we believe. It is just so incredibly awesome to see what wonderful things God has done, is doing, and will be doing.
Remember, when we are called names, or made fun of what we believe, that is persucution. Look at what Jesus went through. I look at it this way, those of you who are saying stuff and persucuting us, THANK YOU. The Bible says we will be persucuted for what we believe. So you are actually following what the Bible says. HMMMM there he goes again. God you are so awesome, thank you for creating us and your awesomeness.
God Bless to all

Hey Mark, im in highschool and we just watched the video in our bible class. Everyone in my class was in awe when we watched it. I have seen it before but it's as if every time i watch it, something new pops out at me. i am also a christian, but the worst type of christian. My parents are not christian so i don't attend church. Luckily i have chances at school to be with other christians. The only time I open my bible is for memory verses and bible homework. And my journal to God is just about the only thing I do to get my feelings out and to God. Anyways, enough of my life story. I just wanted to say thanks for this post. I really wanted to learn more about God's creation/power/relation to our lives. I'm big on biology so the thing about laminin blew my mind and i wanted to get a second look at it all. This is definatly something I'd like to share with some of my friends and maybe family. THANKS SO MUCH!

It is interesting to note that the almost dominant theme is "God is truly AMAZING" and everyone adds a spin...which to me only adds to how amazing He truly is, creating each of us so much different from one another...and because of that allows each of us to discover His truth in His time, not ours. I believe Mark that as you become closer to Jesus, you will become amazed by Him just as you were at the concert and will more and more find that your relationship with Him is uncontainable. Be encouraged and stay faithful, He who has begun a good work in you will be faithful to complete it. For the people who believe and have asked that those of us in awe of God's might and majesty because of the wonders in the universe and science look to God's word...which I believe in whole heartedly...here is a scripture Romans 1:20 For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities, His eternal power and divine nature have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse." God said it clearly, He likes to give believers little love notes in nature...because He loves us so. He also uses those same things to proove to the one in whom seed is planted that He is God. I will not argue the validity of this sign from God with an unbeliever, God does just fine on His own! I love that the star breather is my best friend, no matter what ney sayers think. My life has been transformed by His greatness and Louie Giglio gave a stunning image of what God created. Louie was the one delievering the message, but Jesus is the message. much love to all! =)

While reading through the posts, I found it interesting that there are a few people who misunderstood the significance of the Louie Giglio findings. I've even found a post of a certain "John" denying the existence of Laminin as a protein that forms part of the proteins that holds the body together. John, thank you for your post. However, I have found the attached definition of Laminin in the Wikipeda Dictionary:

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jump to: navigation, search
Laminins are major proteins in the basal lamina (formerly improperly called "basement membrane"), a protein network foundation for most cells and organs. The laminins are an important and biologically active part of the basal lamina, influencing cell differentiation, migration, adhesion as well as phenotype and survival.[1]

Laminins are large trimeric proteins that contain an α-chain, a β-chain and a γ-chain, found in five, three and three genetic variants, respectively. The laminin molecules are named according to their chain composition. Thus, laminin-511 contains α5, β1 and γ1 chains.[2] Fourteen other chain combinations have been identified in vivo. The trimeric proteins form a cross, giving a structure that can bind to other cell membrane and extracellular matrix molecules.[3] The three shorter arms are particularly good at binding to other laminin molecules, which allows them to form sheets. The long arm is capable of binding to cells, which helps anchor organized tissue cells to the membrane.

The laminins are a family of glycoproteins that are an integral part of the structural scaffolding in almost every tissue of an organism. They are secreted and incorporated into cell-associated extracellular matrices. Laminin is vital for the maintenance and survival of tissues. Defective laminins can cause muscles to form improperly, leading to a form of muscular dystrophy, lethal skin blistering disease (junctional epidermolysis bullosa) and defects of the kidney filter (nephrotic syndrome).[4]

I've also found posts reminding us that Laminin is not the only protein that holds the body together. Thank you for your post too and I don't deny this. I'm not a scientist, neither a Biologist or knowledgable in your field and I appreciate your knowledge. As much as I appreciate your input, I would like to try and explain to you that nobody denied that there are more than one protein with similar functionality and that might also have total different shapes and sizes, but it is significant for us who honor the fact that Jesus paid a price on the Cross for our salvation and the presence of a binding protein reminding us of that one loving action that forms a bonding between God and human and it plays a significant role in our appreciation of His love for us. This does not mean that there are no other actions or truths that plays a role in our awe of His Might and omnipresence in our lives.

The person who understood that our appreciation for this finding is supposed to be THE proof of God's existence for the person earnestly seeking Him. My friend, nobody said that Laminin is the way to salvation. The Word of God is quite specific in explaining salvation, building of faith, changing attitudes to get in line with God's sovereign plan for our lives, etc. Many saved ones will enter Heaven without the knowledge of the shape of Laminin. We just find it amazing and it is indeed a WOW factor. The truth is, Jesus paid the price for your salvation too, even though he knew that you might deny Him and never accept Him as your Saviour. The surprising fact is that even if you were the only person on earth, He still loves you enough to go through all this pain and agony for you alone, even though He knew that you might never accept Him. The day will come that you will need true love and security. It will never be too late to accept His love for you. He will never deny you.

Hey there everyone. I would just like to add the following comment, but first I want to ask you to clear your mind for a few seconds, just for the purpose of this issue: "What if God exist? What if there is a heaven and a hell? What if this is all true? What if, when you die, you are judged and your name is not found in the Book of Life?

I am a re-born Christian, luckily not for the questions stated above but I always wonder about people who are so quick to comment the negative . . . .

Just think for a moment . . . .what if . . . . .

Very Nice article! I'm just disappointed to see some of the comments and how people have taken Christianity just b/c of the images (just images), to me that's not believing from the heart or b/c of the teachings from the bible but b/c of an Icon aka Idol... I'm very sad to see how some people think in a nation that is supposed to be "superior" than other 3rd world countries... I have to agree with Joshuas' comments if we saw another image like he mentioned Santa Claus doesn't necessarily mean it exists...i've been trying to see different pictures of laminin and none really represent a consistent cross...I think any chromosome is represented as an X and if we tilt that then it will also be a cross...Also you can relate any cross shape to religion maybe we could use Cygnus to bring in more believers, lol ... Ancient civilizations did this in order to obtain number and with that power, I hope Christians don't turn that way...

Yes, hello. First off I would like to say that both of these idea's listed above are false. For one the center of a black hole has no light as the gravity is so strong that it actually pulls the light from the very space around it, creating the "black" you see. Secondly, the Laminin is a protein found within our body that changes it's structure periodically, saying any structure is related towards anything at all that we have defined within our own society is too broad. I'm sure if you could take five minutes to google other types of molecular structures you would find that most of the ones that make you stay alive, say for example carbon*, than you might realize that they have satanic allusions as well.

I was at youth group tonight and we watched this speaker and saw both of the images and they just blew my mind. Because if you really think about it.. look down at your finger.. you cant see it but the God of this universe knows how many of those tiny things are in your body, he also knows each and every stars name.. and if u seen this u know that there are ALOT of stars and planets out there that he breathed into place but he still knows just how many hairs or on our head. And he gave his son Jesus Christ up so he could have YOU, and even if you were the only person on this little planet in this solar system, on the milky way galaxy, in this whole universe he would have still came down and died on that cross on the hill to take away YOUR sin just so he could spend forever with YOU and ME! We are made in HIS image, out of everything he made he chose to make US in HIS image, which just shows really how special each and everyone of us are! and to think that he made this WHOLE universe and placed US on this golf ball sized planet just because he loves us and he wants to spend forever with US is by far AMAZING!... I hope this touches some of you because I know that it really touches me and I am sooo glad that I can call him my savior!!!

The shape of Laminin indicates to me that God knows the end from the beginning. He KNEW man would see it someday ! The cross was the place where the One in Whom all things consist, or are held together, suffered and died. This is what happens when things DO go wrong in our fallen world...things just seem to fall apart, right?

Well, the cross also holds the promise of resurrection...which Laminin also does !! There is no contradiction in God's visible display of Laminin in the shape of a cross It is He that restores all things...not just to its old self but to the new and eternal life wherein there is no more suffering, no more death.

Laminin speaks of the Gospel of Jesus Christ...life, death and resurrection. Jesus took up the cross for us and conquered death for us. He, indeed, holds us together...eternally !!

Okay well I have read every comment left here and I would just like to say a few things. First of all, for all those skeptics, we are not saying that people should turn to Jesus just because laminin is shaped like a cross. We're just sitting back and looking in awe at the wonder in which our God created us. We're just trying to say that is another way that God shows us in a very small way how much He loves us and how He died for you and me. And yes there are probably many other chemical compounds and what-not maybe shaped like a cross or other symbols, we're not saying this can't be true, we're just looking at this one example and just thinking how AWESOME it is!! And He is there, even in the far reaches of the universe! In that aspect, we're just looking at that and that is just another way that God shows us He loves us and died for each and every one of us! Laminin is not the reason to turn to Christ, yes you also need to read the word of God and really believe, but it's just another way God has provided for us to strengthen our faith in Him. So really, try to understand all you skeptics that we aren't saying there can't be other symbols in this way out there, and yes there might not be a cross in every galaxy in the universe, and this isn't the only reason to turn to Christ, but plainly put, it's just awesome!!!! :)

Heyyy! WAOW. How Awesome is our God, and how small do we feel right now!

I came across this blog when I was researching Laminin after watching Louie Giglio tonight at my youth fellowship.

How amazing is it that you are all my brothers and sisters in Christ and yet we are joined when I have never even met you before and we live so far apart (I presume)

After watching this clip of Louie, it has just made me realise at how much detail God has put into creation and made me realise just how HUGE he is!!!!! I couldn’t help but cry when I saw the cross shaped Laminin. Totally and utterly amazing.

See you in heaven Guys :)

I still am in awe and wonder at how Great and Mighty and truly Unfathomable our God is! I saw the Louie Giglio video today at a Campus Life event and was truly and utterly amazed at God's power. I was definately reaffirmed to Christ's commission for us to go out into the world, even if it's just your work, to make disciples and talk about Christ to all who you think need it, don't think need it, want to help, hate to help, and just to love your neighbor

So that Black Hole that's destroying everything (and who knows? Wiping out Billions of lives in the process?) looks vaguely like a cross so it's proof of God? What about all the other thousands of Hubble images that don't resemble Roman torture instruments? And the fact that a scientist did a diagram in the shape of a cross is also proof? You know that's just how it was drawn right? Not how it would actually look under a microscope.

How did so many people get so massively stupid? And how many of you are American?

Anonymous said...

Oh..also worth mentioning that since Black Holes trap everything, even light, your initial comment about it being a photo "of the centre of a black hole" is wrong. You can't photograph something you can't see, just it's effects on the surrounding environment.

I accidently turned to this blog to see whether the comments would be abusive. To my pleasant surprise, I found so much of faith in God's power and majesty. Whether the laminin or the Bible or our day to day experiences lead us to know the One True God is not the issue. Great to know that the vast majority of the comments herein confirms that the majority knows that God loves us. Even Jesus would not mind if you did not hear about him, as long as you did good works and beilieved in a Supreme good being who created this world with love for all of us. Ofcourse, I am a Christian from India and love Jesus who died for me. The blog that set out to mock the Creator, ended up praising God. Praise the Lord, the Almighty God, the Father of us all, even of those who presently refuse to want to believe. If you really want to know whether God exists, cry out to Him in the privacy of your heart, and He will certainly make His Presence known to you. Try it, and He will not let you down. Cedric

It is amazing to me that some will not allow themselves to make the choice to believe in Christ our Lord. But even those that saw Christ face to face when he walked the Earth had to make the choice. They all made a choice some to belief and some to not believe. It is no different today. The bible does not say choose because of this protien or sign of the cross and neither does the author as I see it. But there is nothing wrong with seeing supporting evidence in science... and He does hold it all together according to Scripture Hebrews 1:3
Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high: THE word of His power and amazing theory ..Just an opinion of another believer in Jesus our Lord and Christ .. ll things were created though Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist." (Colossians 1:16-17). oh by the way whatever it takes to get a soul saved go for it.. what you believe about truth doesnt matter it is still truth Jesus Saves

Lots of interesting comments. The one that said about laminin being related to brain cancer-if you read carefully, it is an overproduction/mutation of a certain form of laninin. This is just like an overgrowth of skin cells or white blood cells (necessary for survival) which can cause cancer.
As far as the shape of laninin not always looking like a cross, so what? Sometimes it does. This is just an example of the "wow" factor of creation. To me, it doesn't matter what the shape is (although it being a cross is cool), what matters is there exists a substance that holds cells together-just like there is a God who holds the universe together.
I'm waiting for science to identify "the God shaped hole in all of us" to quote the song.
Science, including human developement screams out the existance of God, rather than denying it. The geologic record shows that different life forms appeared suddenly, not evolved from other forms. If one form is better than another, how can the earlier form still exist?
If it were not for laninin and similar molecular "glues" life could not exist. Living things make laninin. How could one evolve without the other?

Ok wowso the diagram was originally sideways. So if you flip it the other way it kinda looks like an upside down cross. Which means, oh man we are being held together by satan! Ahh and come on folks, your the ones also that discredit books and movies like davincis code which is all based off iconography. Things become amazing to you when it benefits your cause and your need for gratification. If you are looking for things you will find them. And how do you know that GOD knows how many hairs are on your head? Have you asked him in one of your inegmatic jovial monologs? Notice the lack of response when you pray? The whispers you here are your alternate personalities and you should probably be in a hospital. Enough ranting I guess. I don't have a problem with your beliefs or that it brings you hope or hapiness. Both are hard to find these days. Just saying don't present it as fact since no one will no for sure till there dead. One last thing. God is all loving and all forgiving. I'm just making sure he didn't get brutally tortured, beaten, betrayed by his closest friends, and hung on his cross and left for dead for nothing. So don't hate. Love everyone have an amazing day!

He is holding me together in all ways, including my mind and especially our love for him and for each other. The vastness of the X-structure in the Whirlpool Galaxy to the finest detail of the Laminin protein made me realise how GREAT our God is. Awesome feeling to know that no matter where you are that GOD is looking after you and your loved ones, He holds us together. Amen

Crucifixion is an ancient method of painful execution in which the condemned person is tied or nailed to a large wooden cross (of various shapes) and left to hang until dead. Crucifixion was in use particularly among the Seleucids, Carthaginians, and Romans from about the 6th century BC to the 4th century AD. In the year 337, Emperor Constantine I abolished it in the Roman Empire, out of veneration for Jesus Christ, the most famous victim of crucifixion

Not sure where Anonymous got his information from that crucifiction wasn't around at the time of Christ's death.

Couple laminin with the bacterial flagellum and it make for quite a compelling case. What artist finishes his/her masterpiece without a signature? I wonder what scientists could come up with who tried to search for affirmations of God's existence? What a wonderful world it would be if mainstream science would recognize the separation of mind and body. Consciousness outside of the chemical reactions of the physiological brain.

God used this preacher to show how great and amazing He is in our lives! This Laminin is not the basis of what we believe, but it's a proof that truly God created us. He left this as an imprint that He is our creator and that holds everything in us together! I do believe that this is not just a coincidence. It's s reality. It's how the way we are made by God. For non-Christians, I respect on how you react about this. But that wont change anything about my faith in Jesus Christ. God is really amazing! I can feel that its a revelation on us!

How do we know the cross/crucifixion symbols shows don't represent the death of Krishna in 1200 B.C., the Hindu Sakia in 600 B.C., Telingonesic in 552 BC, IAO of Nepal in 622 BC, Hesus of the Celtic Druids in 834 BC, Quexalcote in 587 BC, Quirinus of 506 BC, or any of the many many other "gods" and "prophets" who were crucified before the Jewish Jesus?

You guys are absolutely crazy if you honestly believe that a god is sending symbols in DNA and black holes.

First of all, isn't it our science and technology that says evolution happens, the earth is old, and humans have existed far more than 6,000 years -- the same science that ALLOWS us to see black holes and that ALLOWS us to know what we know about DNA and to take pictures of the not-so-cross-shaped protein(the diagram used by science is for simplicity's sake because it would be difficult to discuss or refer to if the diagram were as twisted and contorted as the actual protein)?

Here's a picture with a sarcastic comment making fun of you idiots, in case you don't believe me. http://i.imgur.com/GFD9M.png

Additionally, assuming there is a god, and further assuming the bible is his word and is completely true - wouldn't his revealing himself to us through things like DNA, black holes, and answering magical rain-prayers (or rain dances as they native americans may have refereed to them) -- if he revealed himself, wouldn't it take away from our free will and free choice?

This alleged god doesn't seem to take that direct route. In fact, he has a bad habit of doing the opposite. For instance, he put all this pot on the ground, but for some reason it's morally abhorrent to smoke it. He turned water to wine and allowed us to be able to make alcohol -- but we're not supposed to get drunk DESPITE that it makes us feel good. He threw the Colorado River at the bottom of the Grand Canyon, showing evidence of millions of years of erosion, yet only created the earth a few thousand years ago - throwing us yet another curve ball. If your god does all these things, hides himself from us, doesn't perform miracles, doesn't approve of stem cell research, and constantly becomes discredited by scientific findings, then why would he all of a sudden make his existence so readily available.

You guys are idiots, and that's all there is to it. Wake up and realize there is no god -- or at least there's non all-powerful, all-knowing god. Want some proof?

Let's think philosophically. There is evil in the world, and we know that. Innocent people suffer (including those who believe in this alleged god) every day. They did nothing wrong but they just happened to be born in a poor area -- poor as in finding food to survive every day. People are murdered every day, genocide, torture, etc. Here's my point:

Evil and suffering exist. If your god is all powerful and can stop these evils, but is unwilling to, then he's an asshole and not worthy of worship. If he is willing to stop the suffering and evil, but he is unable, then he's not all-powerful, and therefore is not a god. If he is unable or unwilling to prevent evil, then what is he?

Additionally, free will, god's will, and prayer cannot coincide. If god has a will, but your prayer is different from that will, what is the result? If god's will happens anyway, then prayer doesn't work. If the prayer trumps god's will, then god's will goes wrong all the time. If it's a combination of both, then what dictates whether your prayer overturns god's will or does not overturn god's will. Plus, don't non-christians' free will violate god's will all the time? Additionally, what if two equally strong christians pray for two different things. One person prays for god's will to be done regarding a boy in the hospital, and the other prays simply that the boy live. If god's will is that the boy die, then either A. He dies because it's his will, which wins no matter what; B. He doesn't die because prayer trumps god's will; C. He dies because god's will and person 2's prayer offset each other, and person 1's prayer for god's will to be done is the deciding factor; or D. It depends purely on the doctor's skill, the time that they caught whatever was wrong, the technology available, and pure dumb chance.

Isn't it funny how prayer only works as much as the doctor's skill?

This is why you should join my religion. It's impossible to disprove, and it's true because I have a book that says it's true. It's called Pastafarianism. We believe in The Flying Spaghetti Monster.

To outsiders it makes us hard to define, but here are some general things that can be said about our beliefs:

* We believe pirates, the original Pastafarians, were peaceful explorers and it was due to Christian misinformation that they have an image of outcast criminals today
* We are fond of beer
* Every Friday is a Religious Holiday
* We do not take ourselves too seriously
* We embrace contradictions (though in that we are hardly unique)

Tolerance= The capacity for or the practice of recognizing and respecting the beliefs or practices of others.

Intolerance itself is a form of egoism —George Santayana

Nutterfly, you're an idiot, as well as the rest of the people who have posted here (lest those who have realized there is no god since reading my reasoned positions.

Nutterfly: I have no tolerance for the beliefs or activities that are the basis for slavery, oppression, the bombing of countries darker than ours, against the right for women to choose what they want to do with their lives, daily decisions, work lives, private lives, or with their PRIVATE FUCKING BODIES.

Nutterfly, people should be able to gamble, prostitute, drive without seat belts, etc., etc., without gov't interference. Religion prohibits that because "morals" are based on religion, and we base our country's laws on morals. Which is fucking bullshit.

This... has no connection to a god whatsoever. It's just a little coincidence and nothing more. Not surprised religious people accept it without hesitation because they're desperate for evidence and lacking in basic reasoning/common sense skills.

It'll be a good future when these delusional people accept religion is a lie and start thinking for themselves.

Fascinating! Until recently, I didn't know that there is a product with amazing qualities similar to those of Laminin...Thousands of people love it, and I do too.
You can check out its info at www.TryLaminine.com and decide for yourself.

Who missed the point of this article, I or the majority of the respondents? ? The Hubble image looks nothing like a traditional Christian cross. Nothing! ! Besides, my college Bible professor said that the traditional Christian cross was certainly not the type used by the Romans, theirs was of a different configuration. Small wonder that so many are turned off by 21st century Christianity.

I just read every single persons comment on here. I am a chriatian and love God and have dedicated my life the serving Him and thanking him for the amazing things that age has done in my life and the peoples lives around me. I watched the Louie Giglio video yesterday and was blown away by Laminin but at the same time I'm not one to just believe something just because a person tells me about it. My best friend and her husband were some of the smartest people I know because they study different religions and know their stuff. I think its super important to question why you believe what you believe and not just because a random a person who believes the same thing as you says something. I know Jesus Christ is Lord and the one and only true God but it isn't because I went to church my whole life. I used to party and sleep around and feel worthless and the post about the pasta religion...I dated a guy like you. I'm not being judgmental when I say that I just know you enjoy thinking that you have it figured out and you won't mold to the beliefs of others because you aren't that ignorant. But Christians are people who have discovered this secret freedom and peace the distinguishes them from anyone else. Yes, many Christians are terrible models of Christ but to be honest its not about how Christians act its all about a relationship with with the creator of the universe. We allow Him to love us so that we can love others. God is so so good and I would just challenge you to try to trust in God. Dedicate your life to getting to know His heart and his plan for you and you won't be disappointed. Faith is believing in something that can't always be proven. It's easier to give in to sin because that's what the Devil wants and God wants us to choose Him! If he forced us to love Him it wouldn't be love at all. I think free will is the beat gift God could give us because we can choose over everything to show Him that He is worth it. He gave His life so that we could live. That's insane. I dare you to ask him to come into your life and your heart, he's incredible!!

Also, just as Christians can believe all things lead back to Christ, non-Christians can believe that nothing leads back to Him. If your haven't given Him a chance to show you His love and deny it exists why do you expect to know it?

Atheism- the belief that there was nothing, and nothing happened to nothing, and then nothing magically exploded for no reason creating everything and then a bunch of everything magically rearranged itself for no reason which then turned into dinosaurs.

Christians can say non-Christians are silly much easier than non-Christians can say Christians are :)

Watched the video sermon and it just made me teared a little when Louie mentioned about Laminin.

Indeed, our God is the centre of our life. Hallelujah !

It is quite incredible, God said that he will reveal it all in time, I think it is a glimpse he has given us and there will be more, it's just too bad that Darwin didn't live in a time where he could had received such a message, maybe it would resulted in more of the church reunited.

I am so fortunate to have found a source for Laminin to help others that are suffering. I was moved by the gentleman that was talking of his sister that is struggling with her health. Here is the link I found www.themiraclepill.info

Remember, it is the Law of the Lord that is perfect, that coverts the soul. While ALL creation testifies to Who God is (and not just laminin), and His eternal power and Godhead, faith comes by hearing the Word.

ALL the heavens declare the Glory of God, but humbly accepting the Word of God implanted in your soul saves.

WHAT PEOPLE FORGET IS THAT EVEN THOSE WHO DONT BELIEVE IN GOD HAS GOT LAMININ. HIS BLOOD DRIPPED FROM THE CROSS FOR THEM AS WELL. I JUST DONT WANT TO DIE A FOOL NOT BELIEVING IN GOD AND END UP SOMEWHERE VERY HOT WITH THE CROSS(LAMININ) HOLDING ME TOGETHER, TO SUFFER FOREVER. WITHOUT FAITH WE ARE ALL JUST A BLACK HOLE.

I've read all the blogs here. The one who does not believe in God makes me sad. They were asking about prayer. The will of God does trump all. Thats why Jesus words were pray Our Father which art in Heaven Hollowed be thy name thy Kingdom come thy will be done in Earth as it is in Heaven. Sorry I'll miss seeing you there. I'm pressing on in JESUS name! amen

God shows himself to us all the time. This is no coincidence. Nobody ever said it was to "prove that god exists", its simply Gods way of revealing himself to us, in all of his glory.

You people are all weak-minded idiots. There are no gods, witches, goblins, fairies or santas.
Get some facts for yourselves instead of believing your brainwasing, creepy preachers.

The atheist will continue to believe what he wants based on his own personal experience with religion, no matter what the evidence to the contrary. All he has to do is use his "intelligence" to discredit what he chooses not to believe. Psalm 14:1 says that "The fool sayeth in his heart [that] There is no God."

There is no such thing as a "laminin cell". There are cells, there are laminin proteins, and there are cells that make the laminin protein. But there are no laminin cells.

If you think there is no God, you need to rethink. Have you not heard the story of the gospel? The things God does are incredible and I would advise you to read a bible. The gospels, (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) are full of awesome things God has done.

This whole laminin thing blew me away. It made me rethink all the things that science says are not true. I have been saved scince 7 years old and this made me feel like I was 7 again. His speech is on the How Great Thou Art DVD, that is what I heard it from. Amazing grace. What more can it be?

To : anyone who thinks God is not real... I would sugest listening to Louie Giglio for your self. He really makes sense, even for 13 year olds... which I have learned myself.
